How did climate change happen in such a mysterious way?

Climate change is sometimes defined as a significant shift in average weather conditions over several decades or more, such as conditions becoming warmer, wetter, or drier. The longer-term tendency of climate change distinguishes it from natural weather fluctuations.

Climate change manifests itself in a number of ways and is sensed by all living creatures, However, not in the same way. The following are the principles of climate change: what causes it, how it impacts the world and its inhabitants, and what we can do about it.

The greenhouse effect is the primary cause of climate change. Some gases in the Earth's atmosphere act like greenhouse glass, trapping heat from the sun and preventing it from escaping into space, causing global warming.

Many of these greenhouse gases occur naturally, but human activity is increasing their levels in the atmosphere, particularly:

1. CO2 is a gas (CO2)

2. methane

3. nitric oxide

4. gases containing fluorine

When coal, oil, and gas are burnt, they emit carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide.

Destruction of forests (deforestation). Trees help to regulate the temperature by absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere. When trees are cut down, the beneficial effect is lost, and the carbon stored in the trees is released into the atmosphere, contributing to the greenhouse effect.

Cattle farming is being expanded. Cows and sheep produce a lot of methane as they digest their food.

Nitrous oxide is emitted by nitrogen fertilizers.

Fluorinated gases are emitted by equipment and commodities that use fluorinated gases. These emissions have a far greater warming effect than CO2, up to 23 000 times that of CO2.

Domestic climate action

Combating global climate change is a Herculean task that necessitates global collaboration as well as the efforts of cities, corporations, and individuals. To that end, states ranging from California to Iowa are championing clean energy industries such as solar and wind; cities across the country are taking steps to mitigate climate change and strengthen climate resilience while putting equity first; and corporations, including some of the world's largest multinationals, have pledged to change their business practices in order to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.
